Self evaluation

To begin my oral presentation was about Vegetarianism because my research project was about the vegetarian diet. It was from last year as I am redoing the year but I improved some things.  When analyzing an oral presentation you have to set some points: 

the presentation, the content, the structure, the body language and eye contact, the language and the pronuntation.

I used the same power point as last year but I tried to eliminate all the words I'd put on it. I wanted to be able to explain to my class mates by heart everything I did in my research project. Honestly? I was very glad of my oral presentation. The structure of my oral presentation was clear and organized. I explained it at the beggining as it showed the index. I wanted it to be short but understandable and I divided it starting with the definition, then I explained what is a health diet and which steps are to be followed, than the types of vegetarianism and finally causes, concequences and conclusions.

In every different page of the power point I put a veggie picture to make it more nice.

Of course I can always be better than last time but I was so happy when I finished my oral presentation that I couldn't see any error. When my mind goes white I get nervous but I always try to say anything that comes to my mind.I try to do my best and at the end of every sentence I try to look up. I learn it by heart and I do it very well at home but when there are 20 persons looking at me I get embarrased. 

To finish up my best is the pronuntation, I have the advantage of being a person who has the facility on catching any pronuntation in any laguage. What's more as you might know I've been living for a year in Ireland and that made my accent brilliant. 

This time I was by my own and as nervous as I am I can say I did a good job !! :)

Why is black chocolate healthy?

It sound too good to be right but cience has discovered the reason why black chocolate is healty.

The first reason is because it helps to restore the flexibility of arteries. The second is because it avoids that lukocyte get sticked on glassblood walls. This two reasons are the most important thing in atherosclerosis.

They have innovate a new black chocolate which contains flavanol and it effects the flavour and so the addiction. 

I am personally addicted to chocolate and knowing this is not good for me because I know I will spend the rest of my life eating chocolate with the excuse that is healthy.

A mummy mistery

The Spanish newspaper EL MUNDO finds a coffin from 3.600 years ago, inside there was a mummy from a men about 35 years old of age. This fact took place in Dra Abu el-Naga, Luxor, cemetery where the Spanish arachaeologiste were digging for 13 years alreday. 

The coffin was perfectly, no damage at all. As I said it is from 3.600 year ago and since then nobody has touched it. It has a fabulous decoration from a big artist of the ancian Tebas. It has amazing colours and a variety of signs and draws. It was found in a well of 4 meters depth. The coffin is 2 meters long and before opening they only know that its name is Ned and that he died around 1600 b.C. 

There aren't as many coffins as this one because they only were used for a very short time. It was when Tebas became the kingdom capital.

For the bonds found inside the coffin with good condicions the aracheologists were able to say that the mummy was someone of middle age, between 35 and 45 year old. As the squeleton is in good condicions they might foung the causes of its death.

I remember when I was in primary school (5th year) the teacher made us do a mini-research project about any topic we liked. And I choose the Egypcians. Because I as fascinate with the mummys and the coffins they made for them. I've always though that it is a very interesting and entretainment topic what's more don't you think it is curious?

KEYSTONE: The big bomb of carbon

Nowadays the president of the United States of America is going to take part in an important enviromental decission which is going to say a lot of his post. He is going to approve or deny the construction of a giant pipe to carry 830.000 barrels, (160 litres each barrel aproximateley) of the most dirty petrol of the world, from Canada to The USA. 

This project is going to help earning millions of dollars to a few compannies while it is going to send out millions of tones of carbone dioxide to our atmosphere on the other hand.

If we protest against it we can stop this toxic plan.

John Kerry the responsible of exterior relationships in the USA has oppened a popular referendum.He knows that his decission is very important for the United States to demostrate that it is ahead of the fighting against the climate changing process.

In my opinion we could join our voices to protest against this polluting plan.

To the President of the United States, Barak Obama, and to the Secretary of the States,John Kerry:

"We, critizens of the world, feel strongly motivated when Secretary Kerry said that the enviromental destruction was the most powerful weapon against the world and he engaged the fight against it from the USA. It depends on his decission the success of his position of lidership to protect our planet. The world is asking him to act now"

In Hollywood most actresses use botox to improve their physical appearance, or what's more they test cosmetic surgery until they become slaves of social aesthetic.

It might be an empty mind the one that only cares about physical body care. I can understand that it is very difficult to be one of the most beautiful actresses and being choosen by importnat directors in successful films.

Although the most intelligent option would be choosing a healthy life with sport, food and pure oxygen and being good at what you love. In this case: acting.

On one hand we must accept that time runs and that wrinkles are the proof of wisdom, and on the other hand society and fashion patterns press us, women, to keep as young as possible.

What I really think is that the true beauty is inside, in your personality and character. People, womenmust believe in what they are, not in what they look alike. 

I would like in this short article to critisize the Princess Letizia for being so pretencious and arrogant in the fact of looking for physical appearence perfection. She's been offensive in my opinion for the use of surgery to improve her image. Sh'es been choosen by a prince with her genuine image...so, what else can she expect from her new image?

To end I want to say that simplicity is  a very important quality of beautiful women. It's a kind mixture of qualities, is what you are.

Roses, 21ts of February

 

As you must know this week the party most people wait for is arriving. The town hall has organized a shocking performance opened to all teenagers from all high schools and parents. The aim of the performance was to make everyone aware of the negatives consequences alcohol or other substances can produce.

 

This was on during all day long d in different actuations and it took place on  Frederic Rahola's square. The town hall has created a campaing called "Per Carnaval no tot si val" (for Carnival not everything is permited) representing what could happend on a Friday night.

 

All studients had a big surprise when they entred and didn't hear any talk about the topics refered to Carnival, instead they saw the performance and they could experience so close the bad use of alcohol or drugs and its consequences. What's more they even showed a video of a stomach cleaning caused by  a ethylic comma.

 

 

 First of all well done for having this idea because it makes people sensitive. A lot of teenagers get to know the world of partying in Carnival because in these nights they have a lot of freedom and older people abuse of it and the other way araund. The young follow them like crazy because they hear that partying this way is the best and as a first experience is too much. Most teenagers think that the best of going out is to be drunk and take some drugs but it istn't.

Talking about internet..

Nowadays internet is the essential way to communicate and to be well informed. It is something used the 24th hours a day by millions of people. At the moment it isn't just about computers, technology has evolved so much.

 

To begin with, it is important to say that internet i essential for a lot of people because they have to work with it and the great advantage is that they can have internet anywhere they like. For example for people with disabilities and big business mens who work a lot it is easier for them to work in their houses.

Further more, you can communicate and do video calls with relatives or friends who are in the distance.

As you know lot of people get information from the internet and learn alot of new things about any topic they are interested in.

 

However everything has its consequences; internet is not the exception. It has negative sides as you can't trust all the information that is uploaded and some people hide their real identity. On the other hand people don't know that the devices produces harmful waves which are damaging our health. What's more we have to be aware how do we put our personal information because there are hackers and people who steal personal data.

It is a shame tat people don't know how to communicate face to face anymore because of their addiction.

 

To conclude, internet can be both good and bad and to be extrem in something is not always worth it. We have to try to mix both and our life will be better day after day.

 

Social Classes

Having read the book Pride and Prejudice, we can talk about a love story but we can go deeper and discover other important topics. Such as empiricism, the feminism thoughts of Lizzy and the social classes. 
I will focus my comment on the social classes that we can find in Pride and Prejudice. 

To begin the Bennet's family belongs to a medium social class. They live in the country side and the worst worry her mother has is her daughters to get married with a rich men. Secondly we have Darcy's huge mansion, Bingley's house or Lady's Katherine one. These belongs to the upper social class and we can see the difference between them. For example in the ball when the upper social class goes in the medium ones have to bow. But the book shows us that love is stronger than anything. 

Finally Lizzy gets married with Darcy even though Lady Katherine doesn't accepted it because she says that her daughter is engaged to him. Jane gets married with Bingley even though Bingley's sister doesn't like Bennet's family because she thinks that they don't have good manners.  

Ukraine

In Ukraine a thousand of people were on the streets allover the country. They were fighting during a couple of days because they want to be free, free from a dictatorship and from the political who work only for themselves, who are ready to give violent orders like shooting, beating and injure their own residents. 
Their only pourpose is to make sure they will have money, make sure they will have the mansions they have and make sure they will save their power.
The people who are on the Street want to have dignity and they are brave. In addition they just want to have a normal life. They are civilized people but their gvernors are barbarians. 

As a conclusión this is not the Soviet Union. They ask to their courteous not to be corrupted and they want to be free. Tomorrow they might not have phones or internet conection and they will be by their own there and maybe police men will murder them. This is why we have to help them by sharing this information to anyone.

We all have freedom in our hearts and heads but we need that the people who takes control of our country gives us real freedom. We have the right to feel it.

My future

I'm in a very important moment of my life, in four months I will be decieding what to study in my future.

Last year I repeated but I don't regreted at all because this year my marks are a lot better and I'm so proud of me. 

My very first choise is to leave the country. I want to go abroad to study because I don't like it here. My aim about going to study abroad is to speak English like a native person. Of course I want to learn more languages such as Russian, Chinese and Dutch. I know that if I go to an international Univeristy I will meet people from all over the world and I love it because I can learn about different cultures and other ways of living. A couple of days ago I send my first request to The Hague University from Holand, it is an international University and they do all the classes in English. I had registred to do International Business and Managment Studies. I'm still waiting for their answer and I'm both exited and nervous. I would be greatful if they took me. What's more I have a well known friend there from Ireland so it would be amazing to meet him again there! The second place where I have made the request is London in another International University. They have asked me to pick a day that suits me to call them and talk about it.   

I'm not scared at all of going away from home because I already had this experience before and I had the best year of my life. I hope to be chosen in at least one of these two options. If not it isn't a big deal I can start my degree here and then go abroad. There are a lot of options.  

Talking about parking places.

(The newspaper has made a proposal for the people of the town asking what kind of parking should be better.. an underground parking or a parking outside town)

I am writing to you about the alternative proposal of the car park which I think is a brilliant idea and thank you to asking about public opinion.

It is obvious that we have narrow streets with too many cars. Every morning it takes half an hour to park the car and there are queues everywhere, it is frustating. What's more, all this creates pollution with smokes and the horrible noise of the horns.

The two options you have made are good but I can see more advantages to the second option. Let me explain why. First of all if we are talking about pollution, the car park outside the city center would affect the area and the residents. Secondly the bus service is a great idea but will there be a 24 hour service? In addition, on days with a bad weather, people won't be confortable waiting for the bus, adding people who only want to stay for a very short time. If it is an underground car park, it won't take space on the surface so it could be used for other things.

On the other hand it could be interesting for people to have out side town because cars won't be making queues and constructions won't be at the middle of the city center which would be very stressful, although it would be for only a couple of months.

Overall, I would go for the underground car park because as there are more advantages. We have to find a solution with few pollution consequences. What about promoting more electrical cars and cheap parking or free parking for residents?

CHRISTMAS TIME

This year  Christmas holidays had been amazing. If I have to be honest they were the best I ever lived. One thing that helped me to enjoy them more were my marks; this time I've done it! And I'm so proud of me.

To begin my holidays I went for a couple of days to Barcelona. My bestfriend gave me as a present one entrance to the "Cirque du soleil" with her. I can tell it was amazing and they did stuff inimaginable but the only thing I regret was that I couldn't take any picture and in the end there wasn't any video or souvenir to buy which it meant I couln't keep any memory of it. I got home the 23th and the day after was Christmas eve.

 During the day I went shopping to Figueres with my mum, my boyfriend and my older brother. And that night we had a special dinner in family: my parents, my two brother and my boyfriend. The 25th we all went to my oncle's house for lunch, everyone was there my cousins with their couple and their children.On the 26th as it is Saint Steven and so my little brother's name  we celebrated with a big meal in family too.

The following day, 27th, is such a special day for me... it's my birthday !!!! And this year I turned 18.. it was long waiting but it finally came the day. That day I stayed with my family and my boyfriend but next day I celebrated with all my friends. I did it with my best friend and we spend all day with the preparation. I went to buy all the food and drink we needed with my father and my brother and then we went to Sant Pere Pescador where we were going to have the party. My cousin, my bestfriend and I swelled up 100 ballons, we put Christmas decoration all over the local and we prepared dinner for 24 people. We made sandwiches, omelettes, pizzas and as a supplement we put olives, cold meat, cheese and chrisps. When everything was ready we got ready and waited people to come. I had an incredible dinner with all my friends what's more as a desert my godmother made an incredible cake I was a bit emotional. After dinner about 30 other friends came to the party. We rented a DJ for all night so we had brilliant music and a huge dancefloor. The party went on until 6.30 more or less but the worst thing was when I waked up the next morning. The place was absolutely durty and we spend all day cleaning and repearing broken stuff. Leaving this desaster in a side I had a magical night plenty of emotions and it was the best night I ever had. 

The next big event was New Year's Eve; I went to a restaurant with my family and friends, the adults had lunch together and the youth in another table, I remember that they brought us the desert with the grapes at the same moment and I was nevous because I wanted to peel the grapes and took off the seeds. It was the first year that my grapes didn't go out my mouth while trying to follow the bells. After having eaten the grapes and danced with friends and family at the restaurant we went to a disco. It was packed !! But I had so much fun. 

To end my Christmas holidays I had to study Filosofy.. but it was worth it !!!

SELF EVALUATION

After doing five oral presentation I still get nervous in front of the class. This time I didn't read like I did sometimes because I knew really well what I was talking about. 

You can hear that I say a million times the word "well", it also happens to me when I do catalan or spanish oral presentations with the word "bueno". I considere it's one of the best ones I have ever done so I've to say that I am really happy about it.

WINDOOR

As you must know, in Empuriabrava, my town, they have built one of the most important wind tunnel called the Windoor. My aunt works there and for my birthday she gave me a ticket to go there with my cousin. 

The second of January I  went to "fly" with her. First of all they explained us how it was going to be inside and all the things we could and couldn't do. They told us that we weren't going to hear anything inside so we had to learn some signs. Then we went to a huge room where they gave us the right equipmnet to wear. We had to leave all the valuables things in a looker. Finally we went to the room before entring to the tunel and they gave us a helmet and earplugs. 

Our instructor was so funny and he made a demostration, he was unreal! 

I went after my cousin and what is better than the feeling of flying? It was amazing! 

Everyone had two goes. When we had finished the instructor told me that I did it great for being my first time. I was extrimely happy. I really want to go there again. 

My family, my boyfriend and some friends were there to see me "fly". It was such a great experience! 

ANDORRA.

The parent's organization of the school goes on a trip every year. I went and we were only a small group going to Andorra. 

We left the first of February and we came back the third. We went by bus and the day we arrived we did a snowball war. The next day it snowed all day long. We only had two skirun open because the wind was blowing incredibly strong. The first two hours we had a ski teacher and then we could go on our own until lunch time. After that we could choose between going to the hotel and skiing more. My friend and I chosed to go to the hotel because the weather was horrible. 

During the afternoon we had time to go shoping. I bought a lot of things; Andorra is cheaper than Spain. That night the parents let us stay up until late, we went to the boys room to play cards and we had a great time all together. My friend and I went to bet at 4 o'clock in the morning and the same day we woke up at half eight. We were absolutely dead. We couldn't move from the bed. 

The weather was even worst.. this day the temperature was -17ºC. After lunch we went to the hotel and we packed our stuff. The return was so long, it took us ages to come back here because there was a huge cue.

GIANLUCA

Gianluca is 18 years old and he will be 19 on the 23rd of June. He's my brother and he's one year and a half older than me. We live together with our parents and younger brother in Empuriabrava. 

In August he will be going to America to college because he got a scholarship. There he will study business administration and he will train tennis everyday. People say that we look similar but I don't think so because he's dark-skinned and I'm withe-skinned, he's quite taller than me, he's rather muscled and fit but I'm not. 

Like I said he's dark-skinned and so he has dark eyes and black short hair. He's quite tall, for some time I used to be taller than him. He's a slim person and he really likes to train his body to be in form. His lips are very thick and he has a huge smile. 

In one hand, my brother, is extrimely sensitive and when something happens to him he doesn't like to talk at all. But in the other hand we can spend many ours lying down on the bed talking about anything. We have our own jokes that only we understand. 

He is quite lazy and he hates tyding his room, he has it full of clothes everywhere and my mum goes mad when she sees it. He isn't a hard-working persons but he's particulary smart and clever so his marks are probably the best of his class. 

He loves sports and he is quite good at tennis; he has been playing since he was four years old. 

I could explain a thousend things about him but the most important one for me is that I love him and I think he is a brilliant person. He's always so cheerful and amusing.

I don't know what I'm going to do next year without him.. I'm going to miss him so much.

   

HOSTS FAMILIES

To begin I would suggest to any international student to stay with a host family. In the college accomodation there might be too many studients from the same country and they will be talking in their language. Being in a host family obliges you to speak in the country's language.

I believe that staying with a host family, you can always do what you want while living in the college you have to follow a timetable all the time. 

It depends on what kind of student is coming to your house, some families will be more suitable, however, for a student who wants to improve the language of the country they should live in town or in the city centre to have a variety of conversations. 

A host family should have the following things:

- A single comfortable room for the visitor and good transport.

- A host family should, if possible, have meals together at least in the evening.

- People who are sociable and very chatyyy would be the most suitable. 

- The family needs to be aware in the first few days of the visitor's stay, pronunciation and understanding can be difficult.

Finally, I would like to be a host family to know people from around the world. It's nice the way you can meet people like this and the if you get on well you can do an exchange !!

CINEMA

The studies of Disney want that Emma Watson to be the new Cinderella of the new adaptation from the most known book. 

Emma Watson after doing Harry Potter has become a famous actor. I must say it's a good opportunity for her to do such a paper in a movie for children. I think it's going to be a great movie!

GOSSIP

Rihanna was interviwed in ELLE magazine and she said she probably will have a baby with Chris Brown because they considere themselves adults and they can do thing right.  
After being back together it seems that their relationship is perfect. They have left behind the fights and trouble. 
Rihanna said that she would like to work with less stress because she wants to form a family with Chris Brown. Chris answered that he wants to have children too. But they both think that it is maybe to soon to be parents yet. And I agree with them because she's only 25 years old and he's only 23. They still have plenty of time to form a family. 

Rihanna is my favourite singer and artist and I completely admire her.
